Art In a Petri Dish

October 7, 2015
feature

Using liquid color and other materials, Tel Aviv artist J.D. Doria explores “colonies” of color the way a scientist would explore bacteria, with a petri dish acting as his canvas. Once the mixture in the dish becomes “active”, the colors create beautiful marble-like swirls and interesting shapes which are then captured with a digital camera and enlarged.

The results are all the more evidence that some of the most beautiful artwork simply comes from letting nature do its thing.
